ART, DRAWING 2: This course is designed to augment the Drawing 1 class. You'll learn techniques for life drawing and explore the use of different drawing materials. Bring your materials from the first course so that we can get started right away.

ART, FAUX PAINTING, STEP-BY-STEP, BEGINNING: See how easy and fun it is to create your own faux finishes. This class will provide instructions and hands-on experience in creating decorative finishes, including Rag Rolling, Sponging, Alligator Skin, Parchment Paper, Dragging, Combing, Frottage, Color Washing, the Bamboo Look, Bagging and more. A supply list will be given out at the first class.

ART, OIL PAINTING, BEGINNING: Students will become familiar with paint mixing and application techniques and will work on projects that help them understand the paint’s properties. The class allows for individual attention from the instructor as students are given plenty of studio time to work on their own paintings. The teacher will give you a list of supplies at the first class. No supplies will be needed for the first class.

ART, OIL, PAINTING, INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED: For those who have experience with color theory and color mixing and are ready to paint on their own. This class is taught in a studio setting where students work on their own projects with helpful tips and guidance from the teacher. Bring your supplies to the first class.

ART, POTTERY: A hands-on course designed for beginners/advanced potters with step-by-step instructions. A project will be created each week, with time to create additional items. At the end of the course, all students should have at least four finished projects. Instruction in hand building and the potter's wheel is included in the curriculum, along with many glazing approaches. There is an extra $35.00 lab fee for clay and glazes.

BLUEGRASS JAMMING: If you play the banjo, guitar, bass, dobro, fiddle or mandolin, come learn how to jam and meet other pickers. GARDEN, LANDSCAPE: WHAT IS THAT PLANT?: Many of us, including our visitors from up north, are lost when they see our Florida plant material. There’s so much of it! This course will multiply the list of plants that you know, and are comfortable using, in the inimitable style of the instructor, known as the Design Pundit. We will look at shrubs, trees, aquatics; learn to identify them; and how to use them. Through the use of slides, handouts, and the internet, you will learn to make sense of the Florida landscape.

GUITAR, BEGINNING SKILLS: This fun course is for anyone interested in learning the basics of playing guitar. We'll learn guitar chords, how to spot patterns in songs, play together as a group, and basic guitar tab. By the end of the course, you'll have the tools to play a song you like, read basic guitar chords and tab, and know how to find other songs on your own to be able to play from the vast printed and electronic resources out there. We will use famous and fun songs in pop culture to bring out your inner musician. Bring your own guitar.

GUITAR, NON-BEGINNING: For the student who understands basic notations and chords. This course is designed to enable the player to perform in ensemble work. Areas of study will include advanced chord structure, scale work, and right-hand finger techniques.

PHONE, ANDROID, TIPS AND TRICKS: This class will teach tips and tricks to make using your Droid phone easy, fun and rewarding. The Droid phone is a versatile tool with a surprising number of applications (apps). This class will help you set up the default apps that come with the Droid as well as the best apps that are free (or inexpensive) and most helpful and useful to you. Learn how to set up email, use GPS, shoot high-definition (HD) video to store, send as email, or post online; get a WiFi connection, and even watch movies or TV shows. Also learn how to save battery life and decrease frequency of charging.

Would you like to sew your own soft lounge pajamas? Whatever your sewing desires are, please come and join us! No sewing experience necessary.  Bring your own machine or use one of ours.  No supplies needed for first class. Ages 10-100 welcome!  Save money by sewing your own clothes and decorator items. They’ll be more precious because they’re one-of-a-kind and you made them!

WRITING, CREATIVE: If you love to tell stories or share past experiences, this class is for you! Learn to weave engaging plots and select key events to grab the reader. We'll focus on fiction and memoir as we explore creative writing elements such as conflict/drama, characterization, viewpoint, pacing, and description through in-class writing exercises. Students of all levels will learn from each other through guided manuscript critique. A survey of the publishing field with tips on reaching editors is also provided.

WRITING, NON-FICTION: Interested in writing articles? Non-fiction is a great way to break into print! Learn to craft clear, concise copy - for magazines, ads, brochures, or websites. This class will cover different types of non-fiction writing and the process in developing an idea through a plan to a manuscript. Narrowing focus, finding sources, interviewing, pitching to editors/publishers, and targeting appropriate audience are discussed. Students at all levels will learn from each other as manuscripts are shared for comment during class time.
